Forget Everything You Know
The new tower designs necessitated a new city-wide master plan. This was developed in two stages: First to outline the location and volumes of the initial towers; second to locate their connections (physical and aerial) and amenities.
The overall masterplan laid the towers out in a regular Cartesian grid ignoring life at ground level: medieval street layouts, rivers, and parks are irrelevant when you’re building a new city overhead, after all!
The new city masterplan applied a grid over the old Manhattan Island. . .
. . . then arrayed a generic Blade Tower at each of those points. As in all masterplans, the detail and design of each tower would be unique. In this image there are two towers in New Jersey, this was later removed once the USA fractured and each state became their own sovereign entity. Relations between NY and NJ remain poor, to the surprise of no-one 🤷🏻♂️

So, way back a year ago when I started these emails, I thought this tower one would be a quickie! Here we are, three weeks later 😀I guess once I start its hard to stop. Maybe that's why I find short stories so hard to write? (The Paradise Factory was supposed to be a short story!)
