LEAVE THE SQUALID STREETS BEHIND AND MOVE INTO A BLADE-TOWER TODAY! (3)
Life Aquatic with the 1%
As I mentioned last week, the first Blade Tower was considered an architectural marvel when it opened. However, with a couple of years it's occupants realized that experiencing exotic locations through AR (Augmented Reality) wasn't as much fun as strolling though one on a Sunday afternoon.
Therefore the towers that followed contained a series of additions (know as blisters or bulbs) that contained parts of the few remaining wildernesses on the planet.
These were scooped up and transported to New York in huge Hoppers designed for the task. When those small remaining habitats died out, the blister environments were reprinted from copies, but these were always treated as crass, gaudy arenas by the original 'settlers.'
Finally, connecting the towers together a mile in the air were enclosed, protected boardwalks allowing the occupants to stroll between the buildings on a lazy afternoon: a return to the bucolic lifestyle so admired and so in fashion in the late 2050s.

Want to see that?
Ahh. Urm. 😬 Well, I haven’t drawn a tower (or city) that represents all of this. I started! I did! But soon realized designing and modeling an entire city by myself was a lot of work heheh 🤣 (What I really need is a select group of concept artists to do it with me, but that’s a bit out of my price range at the moment! Any offers?)
So, for some of this you will have to use your imagination I’m afraid… What I could do is design and draw one specific third generation tower with an ocean blister . . . or tropical zone . . . or lunar habitat . . . 🧐
The design for Tower One was greeted with acclaim from the (paid off) architectural and art critics and sold out before it opened. However, within only a few years it was considered austere and out-of-date. I shall write about what came next (for the tower and the whole city) on the next page…
If you could, would you want to live in a tower that high? Or do you think it's crazy to live in a city, just to look down on it from above? I’d love to know what you think, so send me an email and let's chat! 😀
